FSGA Tournament Descriptions

ABCD SCRAMBLE Reverse Shotgun

Teams are selected so that the totals of their handicap indexes (HIs) are approximately equal. Players select which tee shot to use. Players then select which second shot to use. All hit from where the chosen ball lies and so on until a ball is holed-out. Shots hit from each chosen location count as one stroke toward the gross team score. HIs are capped at 36.

ABCD CHA-CHA-CHA Reverse Shotgun

Each player plays his own ball into the hole. A player's score for the hole is his net score. The team score for a hole is the sum of the best three scores on the par 3s, best two scores on the par 4s and the best score on the par 5s. HIs are capped at 36.

SCRAMBLE with Ambrose Scoring Reverse Shotgun

The HIs of players in each foursome are similar. On each hole, all players tee off. Players select which tee shot to use. Players then select which second shot to use. All hit from where the chosen ball lies and so on until a ball is holed-out. Shots hit from each chosen location count as one stroke toward the gross team score. The team playing handicap is the sum of each player's playing handicap divided by 2 (Ambrose). The team score is the gross score minus the team's playing handicap. HIs are capped at 36. The handicap allowance is 80%.

Member-Member / Member-Guest Shotgun

Players select partners or are assigned a partner. The format is net best ball for each two-man team. HIs are capped at 36. The handicap allowance is 80%.

ABCD QUOTA Reverse Shotgun

Teams are selected so that the totals of their handicap indexes are approximately equal. Each player plays his own ball. Points awarded for each hole are double bogey or higher = 0, bogey = 1, par = 2, birdie = 4, eagle or lower = 6. A player's QUOTA is 36 minus his playing handicap. The player's total score is his points earned minus his QUOTA. The team score is the sum of the total scores for each player. HIs are capped at 36.

ABCD SHAMBLE Reverse Shotgun

Teams are selected so that the totals of their handicap indexes are approximately equal. All players tee off. The players select which tee shot to use. Each players plays his own ball into the hole from that point. The team score for each hole is the sum of the best two gross scores. HIs are capped at 36.

Don Lake Memorial Tournament

We celebrate Don's life and love of golf. Don was an active member of FSGA up to and after his 100th birthday in 2018. After he passed away in July 2019 at the age of 101, the Don Lake Open Tournament became the Don Lake Memorial Tournament. The format is stroke play, net and gross. Net scores are included in the season's Flight Competition.

Ryder Cup Reverse Shotgun

The format is Match Play between two players from each team in each foursome. The HIs of the players in each foursome are similar, so scores are gross. The teams play four matches: six holes of best ball; six holes of modified alternate shot; and two, six-hole singles matches.
